Alexandra Peterken is a British artist born in Lincoln, raised in the North-East and now based in London. She offers live event painting and workshops, alongside creating abstract paintings with mixed media. Her abstract artworks have a theme of building texture, turning old into new using repurposed materials, and drawing on inspiration from everyday life or her view on the world. She enjoys the juxtaposition of romanticism with harsher textures and details, often created in various mediums including acrylic, oil pastel and collage. Alex graduated from Northumbria University with a degree in Fashion Design & Marketing in 2018, to then switch careers during the 2020 lockdown to pursue a creative life. She continues to draw on her educational background through tactility and figurative expression, now using those skills within her luxury art service for live event portraits and brand workshops. Career highlights for Alex includes workshops for Adidas, live painting for The Macallan, and portrait illustrations for Remington. Showcasing her abstract work within London has also been a highlight as well as being able to travel for a variety of opportunities. Beyond the Canvas
Alex incorporates sustainability into her art practice through her conscious selection of materials and packaging, often choosing to repurpose materials or recycle components.
She plants a tree for every artwork sale, private commission and event, in collaboration with the non-profit organisation One Tree Planted.
Blending her love of fashion and creativity with the environment, Alex often champions the benefits of fashion rental, shopping pre-loved, as well as sharing ideas to up-cycle homewares.
